Spring 2012 Registration Information

STYSA Spring Cups

Information for the STYSA Spring Cups is available at www.stxsoccer.org and has been sent via e-mail to team representative. The Entry Deadline is 11:59 PM on February 1, 2012. The cup fee for the National Cup is $ 950, President’s Cup is $ 825 and Director’s Cup is $ 400 per team. Registration must be done through Affinity.

Cup Playing Sites states, “all games will be played at designated sites identified by STYSA. Designated sites in various communities will limit the distance teams must travel and allow for controlled costs for the games. All field usage and referee fees for scheduled games are included in the entry fee. Designated site locations are currently being determined and will be announced prior to the start of play”.

Alliance Spring Competition

Rio Valley will provide the Alliance Spring Competition for teams not participating in the spring cups. Teams from CBYSA are welcome to participate. Play Groups will be formed based on the fall results. At the conclusion of league play, teams will advance to an end of season tournament. A Team Registration Form needs to be completed by each team. The Spring Team Fee is $ 150.00. There is no additional fee for the post season tournament.

Also this spring, Under 9 & 10 Recreational teams along with Division 3 and lower seeded Division 2 may advance to the Jeffords Cup. The Jeffords Cup is an Alliance Competition started last spring to recognize Mr. Chuck Jeffords from Austin for his support and dedication to the recreational player in South Texas. Jeffords Cup Team Fee is $ 85.00 for the post season tournament.

The deadline to register for Rec Plus Teams, Under 11 through Under 14 and the Jefford’s Cup is 5:00 PM on February 10, 2012. A Coaches Meeting will be scheduled for February 14, 2012. Location is to be determined. The season will begin February 25, 2012.

The deadline to register for Under 15 and older teams is March 14, 2012. The older age groups schedule will begin in late March.

At the Division One, Super II, Division II and Rec Plus level of play, players, coaches and teams are committing to participate for the fall and spring season. Once a player joins a team, that roster spot is unavailable until after the end of the spring season unless the player transfers to another team or is properly released. Certain signatures are required for a player transfer or release. Rio Valley will not process Transfers and/or Releases without the appropriate signatures.

New teams will be accepted. Registration rules require verification of a player’s date of birth. Proof of age shall consist of a certified United States birth certificate, any other documents that provide proof of age that is issued by the US Government or a passport. A foreign issued birth certificate along with a copy of the individual’s school official permanent record card issued by the school registrar will also be accepted.

A second form of photo ID is required for players attending middle school or a higher level educational institution. If a second ID is not available, players must have the approval of the Rio Valley Governing Board.

Additionally, players will need to provide proof of residency. A recent utility bill (within three months of the player’s date of registration) in the player’s parent name is required.

Coaches who have met the STYSA Coaching Requirements can be rostered to a team. All adults having contact with the players are required to have a background check and be registered on the team. A Photo ID and an Adult Registration Form must be submitted to process a background check for all members of the coaching staff. Requirements are available on the STYSA Website. Rio Valley assesses a $ 5.00 Fee for every Kid Safe Applicant on a team. All select teams may register a coaching staff consisting up to four adults.

An E Coaching License is scheduled for March 9 – 12, 2012 at the Brownsville St. Joseph’s Academy. The course begins Friday evening continuing on Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The fee is $ 85.00 and on-line Registration through Affinity is required.

The maximum number of players on an U11 & U12 teams is 14 players. These age groups will play 8 A-side. In accordance to STYSA Rules, up to three players who are U-10 age eligible or younger are allowed on these age teams. The maximum roster size is 18 for U13 - U16 teams. The maximum roster size is 22 for U17 through U19 but only 18 will be eligible to participate in a match. Player and Adult Registration Forms are required to be completed only once during the fall or spring season.

Completed forms and appropriate fees can be submitted for registration. Please make sure that all the information clearly legible in order to eliminate errors. Incomplete Forms (either missing information or fees) will not be accepted. The procedure is as follows:

  1. All teams must submit a Team Registration Form. The Alliance Spring Team Fee is $ 150.00. The Jeffords Cup Team Fee is $ 85.00.
  2. Teams may register new players for the spring season. Player may submit a transfer request to move onto another team. Contact your club for the spring registration fee.
  3. Rio Valley’s Policy is no refunds are available once the season begins. Half of the player’s registration fee will be refunded if request is made prior to the player’s participation in first game. Check with the local clubs for different Refund Policy.
  4. New player registration form completed by the player’s parent or legal guardian must have the residence address, city, zip code and a phone number, if available. Proof of Residency must be attached to the player’s registration form.
  5. Player’s Date of Birth may be verified from club records. Players registering with another club or a new player need to present a Birth Certificate. A registration official will verify the Date of Birth on the Registration Form. A player whose date of birth is not verified will not receive an ID Card and will be unable to play.
  6. Players attending middle school or a higher-level educational institution must provide a second photo ID (copy of the current or the previous year school ID or Driver’s License).
  7. Players who reside outside the STYSA boundaries (Mexico) will not be considered register and can not practice or play until after they have received STYSA approval in writing. The team through the club registrar must obtain either Permission to Play or an International Clearance (depending on the player’s age). International Clearance or Permission to Play forms and instructions are available at www.stxsoccer.org in the forms section. Any player from Mexico that uses a fraudulent Texas address that circumvents these requirements will be considered an ineligible player and sanctions will be applied to both player and team.
  8. In order to participate in a game, every player and coach will have to a Player Pass or Kid Safe Pass. Two (2) identification photos taken within the current calendar year must be submitted with registration applications. Photos need to be Pass Port size (1 ½ inch by 1 ½ inch). Photos that are larger or smaller than the specified size will not be accepted. The player’s name must be written on the back of both photos and attached to the player’s registration form.
  9. In order to be scheduled, Under 11 & 12 teams need to have nine (9) players by the deadline. Twelve (12) registered players are required for Under 13 teams and older. Additional player can be registered through the Rio Valley spring deadline of April 1st.
  10. A Team Registration Form, any new player registration forms and fees per instructions need to be submitted. Contact your local club for the appropriate fees.
