Spring cup registration info - Jan 18, 2008

The National Cup, President’s Cup, Director’s Cup and the South Texas Cup are competitions that are sponsored by STYSA.  Rio Valley teams will play locally and the top two valley teams advance into a Western District Playoff versus the top teams from WDDOA and/or Western District.  The first and second place finishers from the District Playoff advance to a State Playoff.  The three STYSA Cup Competitions are open to teams that were registered during the fall season.  Check out www.wdsoccer.org for additional information.

The top teams registered in Division One are typically participate in the National Cup.  The lower ranked Division One teams along with the top Super II teams compete for the President’s Cup.  The remaining Super II level teams and the top Division II teams compete for the Director’s Cup.  Division II, Division III and new spring teams will compete in a valley schedule with the winners advancing to a STYSA Western District Playoff.  Division One and Super II players are not able to participate on teams competing for the South Texas Cup.

Each Cup has a team entry fee.  The fee for the National Cup is $ 325.00, the President’s Cup is $ 185.00 and the Director’s Cup is $ 175.00.  Rio Valley Division One will be paying the team cup fee for teams registered in the Division One Level of Play.  Division II teams are responsible for the appropriate cup fee.  These fees are payable to Western District along with a Western District Cup Registration Form by the following deadlines: U11 – U14 teams by February 1st and for U15 – U19 teams by March 1st.   Teams registered with Rio Valley Division One will have to submit the $ 125.00 team fee balance due for this spring season.  The team fee collected by Rio Valley will pay for your team cup fee.

The South Texas Cup fee is $ 400.00 but only for the teams that advance to the District Playoffs have to play this amount.  Depending on the number of teams Rio Valley may divide the STC fee into the number of teams that comprise the playing group.  Teams may be assessed a smaller team fee based on the participating teams in order to lessen the cost to the advancing team.

Rio Valley teams will need to coordinate their registration with Western District and Rio Valley.  Spring schedules will be comprised of teams competing for the appropriate cup.  Competitive competition of four to six teams will be grouped together in order to make the spring schedules.  Additionally, team will need to comply with add, transfer and release registration rules prior to the roster freeze dates.  Teams will need to coordinate any roster changes with their local club registers and the Rio Valley Registrar, Ms. Norma Solis.  The registration deadlines will be fast approaching.  For additional information contact:
